Trustee Tees Off for KidsCan

The KidsCan Children’s Cancer Research Golf Day
Sponsored by Gannon Lindsay Wray, Independent Financial Advisers
Wednesday 17th June saw the 17th annual Cancer Research Golf Day held at Chorley Golf Club, in aid of KidsCan.
The day was organised by KidsCan Trustee Mike Gannon, together with Alex Philp, John Turner and Phil Hughes.
This year 64 players travelled from all over the country to tee off and together they helped to raise a fantastic £3,000 for KidsCan. In spite of a very wet and windy day - terrible conditions for golf, the winning team of Brian Stewart, Efion Williams, Vincent Cranny and Neil Carr scored 83 points on the day.
The winner of the “Nearest to the Pin” competition was John Norris, who collected a bottle of House of Commons whisky kindly donated by Lindsay Hoyle MP for Chorley.
KidsCan’s Scientific Director Prof Alan McGown was on hand to deliver a very informed update on the progress being made in the research into the treatments available for cancers in children.
Wigan and Great Britain Rugby legend Bill Ashurst was on hand to present the prizes at the evening dinner with support from the Wigan Warriors.
The organisers and the team at KidsCan would like to thank Chorley Golf Club and staff for their continued support, together with the main sponsors who helped out on the day.
